Have you ever looked at an old photo and said to yourself, what the heck was I thinking? While it is fun to go down memory lane some looks may be so fashion-forward that it may come back to haunt you in photos, others will always be clean and classic. And wearing black and white will always be the go-to combo that will always be a winner, no matter the decade. I have to admit, a large section of my closet is dedicated to black and white because it’s easy to pack, easy to accessorize and always looks great.
I have been looking for a classic pencil skirt and scored this one at a local Austin boutique, Golden Bones in the eclectic part of the Domain called Rock Rose. I actually was the store’s first sale when they opened up in September when I bought some amazing over the knee suede boots!
I found this top on fellow Austin blogger, stylist and writer’s site, Ashely Hargrove, (DTK Austin) and while she is years younger, this top really jumped out at me. I was concerned that someone my age could pull off wearing an off the shoulder look, but I put that thought to bed and purchased it anyway.
Ashley rocked the look pairing it with some distressed shorts and I dressed it up with heels and my new black skirt. I think this will be a fun top to change up with a lot of options actually and the skirt is a nice addition to my closet.
In the end, it’s all about taking some fashion risks and feeling comfortable in your own skin, no matter how old the skin may be. Life is short, I bought the top!
