Hello Everyone! I am back from a fun week in New York City for Fashion Week. It was yet another great time to see photographer friends, see the collections from the best seat in the house (at the end of the runway) and room with a great couple of gals, Shannon and Megan from Boston. These girls make the trip so much fun and when you live on little food, lack of sleep and stress, we all seem to get along and support each other to get our jobs done. It’s my summer camp / working vacation.
Shannon Michelle, a very accomplished photographer in Boston, did me the favor of shooting my first New York Street Style blog pictures for this post. We seemed to miss the four snow storms we enjoyed while there and squeezed in the shoot…any later we would have been covered in snow. How fitting that I’m wearing red, one of the strongest colors coming up for Fall 2014 (honestly it never went out of my closet) and it’s Valentine’s Day! This boiled wool jacket was a recent purchase from Stein Mart as a gift from my mother. Funny, the last time we went shopping I bought a red dress too. The detail on the back is as interesting as it is on the front.
You’ll certainly see plenty of this color red, a burgundy version called Sangria and another more orange red called Aurora Red. Let’s see what celebrity hops on that color trend for this year’s Oscar red carpet.
In other quick Fall 2014 trends I saw…cocoon coats, menswear jackets paired with ruffled skirts and shootie boots which are perfect for any fashion-minded gal despite your age. And hold down the fort, I witnessed something I am afraid to mention…gaucho pants, yes gaucho pants at Vivienne Tam, paired with heels but in leather, so at least that make it work for me. I also saw prints in geometric patterns with an Indian influence. I saw animal print in just one collection, other than that the kitty trend is taking a nap. Some fun and interesting short palm driving gloves were in three collections, and not sure how I feel about those, cause I want my hands WARM!! Flowey, embellished gowns reminded me of pieces worn in the early 80’s but without the shoulder pads.
Head over to my Photo Gallery of the pictures I’ve posted so far and see if you can find a look you love! I several more collections to post so come back for more.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you all!
xo
