As I get older I find myself asking myself more, “is what I’m wearing age approriate?” or is “that something my daughter would wear?” While my fashion taste embraces what comes down the runways, dressing at the ripe old age of 53 can sometimes be a bit challenging as I am concerned about dressing “too young”.
I do like to mix up fashions from all different stores and the trick to finding great fashion is to get think out of the box. You can find things at stores you may not regularly shop at…as I did with the white long top from H&M for $12.00 featured in this post. This does take more time, you’ll have shop the racks and be selective with items in stores so when in doubt, take a selfie.
One trend I LOVE for Spring, (I say it really doesn’t have to be spring) I always reach for anything in black and white and what a wonderful coincidence black and white for Spring (and will trend again in Fall) is HUGE! Black and white will always stand the test of fashion time and looks classic no matter what and is an easy color combo to find in nearly every store.
I also LOVE printed pants. Not sure why, but I will always choose fun pants over a skirt nearly every time. These fun black and white printed pants I found at TJMaxx, are all cotton and have some stretch. For this shoot I decided to style them a bit more casually with my new flat black sandals. I have a foot which makes it challenging to find strappy shoes so I was super excited to find these at DSW and 50% off didn’t hurt either.
It’s finally starting to feel like Spring in Austin and the Texas bluebonnets and all the wildflowers are in full bloom, simply gorgeous! As you hit the stores shopping, when in doubt, black and white is your go to classic pairing for Spring 2014.
