Hello, Gal Pals!
Spring in Austin is officially here when SXSW arrives. I was looking forward to a quiet SX this year, but I was recommended to take event photos for the Spectrum venue across the five days of SXSW Interactive. Since most of the folks working that event were people I previously worked for and knew, how could I pass up an opportunity to make some extra money and enjoy the SXSW experience!
The SXSW Spectrum venue, located downtown at The Red Room, was a recharge station for folks to grab a breakfast taco, a slice of pizza or recharge a phone and chat with friends between the Interactive panels. Informative panels at the venue were broadcast LIVE and LinkedIn experts reviewed attendees profile pages, and a photographer and make-up artist were on hand to shoot a new headshot and produce a short, professionally edited video.
Daily happy hour specials with small bites and a special guacamole bar was a hit with the crowd and nightly bands entertained the crowd with an up close and personal music experience. Performers included Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis, The Voice contestant Nakia and Spectrum staffer Rob Cooperman, rounded out the lineup.
To break up work with a little fun, I shot some of my SXSW looks and also enjoyed capturing some great street style around town. It was fun to take in our local event and feel like a tourist in my own city!
