Thanksgiving Blessings

November 28th, 2013

As I think about this Thanksgiving, I am reminded about exactly how many I have actually celebrated and reflect on the fond memories that I’ve  accumulated over the years. Each year I think I’m going to put on the Martha Stewart style Thanksgiving table and take pictures, post them to Facebook and Instagram as a permanent memory of my craftiness. Somehow that wish gets edited down to the making the traditional dishes my husband loves and I am still as thankful with my rather simple looking table.  I will use my grandmother’s china and I’ll remember a table full of family members all dressed up and all the cousins sitting at the “kids” table.   And l’ll never forget the smell of the amazing yeast rolls my grandma Edna made and I never was able to master despite my wonderful baking ability.

I can remember cooking my first turkey as a newlywed and I cooked the bird with the bag of gizzards inside. There were the years with some not so great lumpy gravy and an apple pie where the crust wasn’t perfect.

Today I  was met with my friend and longtime client Megan, owner of the Novita Spa in Georgetown, TX and the outfit pictured for this post is one of my casual looks for meeting clients and running errands.   After several days of dismal , cold weather in Austin, sitting outside of her spa at the coffee shopr for a hot chocolate  was so inviting.  My papillion Cooper also loved sitting and soaking up some the Texas sunshine with us.

As a fashion lover, you may be able to relate to items in your closet that you are thankful for whether it was a super find on a sale rack or maybe it was something you saved up to buy. My vintage Chanel jacket was given to me by a special person in my life and someone who I’m very thankful to have in my life. Robin Romans gave it to me as a gift years ago and I was able to wear it with her to the Chanel runway show during Paris Fashion Week.   A memory I will cherish for the rest of my life.

I am thankful for a healthy family, a supportive husband, the best  fashion community in Austin and the support of my advertising clients who trust me with their ad budgets.

Here’s wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving and please share your blessings and what you are thankful with me.
