It was getting to be that time again, the time to update my head shots and get a few new promo pictures taken. While I am mostly behind the camera, getting in front of the camera is sometimes a little uncomfortable and let’s face it, work.
The photographer who has shot several of my previous head shots and family photos is Korey Howell from Korey Howell Photography. She is high-energy and is always able to capture the “moment”.
I arrived at Korey’s studio with outfits, jewelry and shoes in tow…way too much to shoot but sometimes outfits photograph differently so better to be safe than sorry. Selecting outfits for a shoot is sometimes the hardest part. I like classic looks, nothing too trendy but I want to have something that looks like “me”. In house makeup artist and hairstylist Lindsey Kincer glammed me up and before you know it I was camera ready. The jacket in this shoot is the same from the previous post but I accessorized it a classic white blouse. Honestly, at first I thought I wouldn’t wear that jacket very much, but I’ve worn quite a lot this season.
The inspiration for the shoot was from a shot I ran across of Nina Garcia. The shot was engaging and timeless, fun and beautiful. Her outfit was simple, elegant and will stand the test of time. She is one of my favorite people to watch for style and don’t you just love her quick wit as a judge on Project Runway?? And what a thrill to actually meet her a couple of times, once at a SXSW and a couple of times at New York Fashion Week.
The next time you are up for getting a new headshot, remember to keep the look simple, classic and timeless…just like you!
